Starting Over

I've been neglecting myself lately. Work has been busy (which I'm very grateful for), my marriage has needed some work and overall I haven't had motivation to do much of anything.

I stopped working out and eating healthy. That's never good. I basically gave up on getting pregnant. I was tired. I would basically go to work, come home, and crawl into the shell that is myself and stay there until we go to bed at night.

I guess I'm just writing this to say that I need a change.

I don't want to change my job, I love it.
I can't change my marriage, I wouldn't want to.
I can't change my living situation, I love my house.

Maybe I need a vacation?  I don't know.

Anyway,  so this happened, my sister-in-law announced her pregnancy to my husband and me on Sunday. Talk about devastating. I cried for hours after they left. My husband just sat there and let me cry. Which was nice, but made me feel even guiltier.

Just to clarify, I'm not angry she is pregnant. She and her husband have been trying for a year after suffering a miscarriage last June. This was the plan. This was supposed to happen.

I'm angry because I am not pregnant. I'm sad because it isn't me that gets to tell Jesse we are pregnant and see the look on his face. I'm disappointed that another woman in my life gets to have a child and I'm left standing at the starting line.

I love my sister-in-law so much and she has been exceedingly gracious towards me which I truly appreciate. But I can't help feeling this way.

I pray. I ask God for an explanation. For forgiveness for feeling jealousy. For a baby.

I went to acupuncture yesterday. It was recommended to me by my sister-in-law (the pregnant one) because she said she went twice and got pregnant.

It was good I guess. I was told that it's possible I am blood deficient and was given herbs to take (yuck).

So I'll take the herbs and I'll go to acupuncture and I'll take ovulation tests and I'll really try to give this another shot. I am so tired of feeling sad about not being pregnant and yet I haven't been doing anything about it because I feel sad. Vicious cycle.

I think the biggest reason I stopped trying (other than the chemical pregnancy last November) was because I was tired of the disappointment. If I'm not trying, I can't be disappointed when I will eventually get my period. But all that really happened is that I felt disappointed anyway and it caused fights between me and Jesse.

So I'm going to start again and I'm going to keep track of everything. Wish me luck!

BIZ-ZEE

I have been BIIIZZEEEE. Busy.  Every weekend is full. Every weekday is full.  So I'm putting all my current thoughts here before they leave my head which could be any second.

- I'm considering trying the fertility doctors again. I want to have a child and I want my mom to have a grandbaby.  This seems like the best option for us now.

- Things are going well at my new job! I'm learning a lot and I'm just excited to really get in the swing of things.

- This year is going by SO fast.  I can't even believe it is June and before we know it, I'll be stringing lights again for Christmas.

- I bought a tribal printed maxi skirt at TJMaxx on Friday and I've worn it twice already. It is so comfortable! I never shop at TJMaxx, but I was in there for work and it caught my eye. I need to give that whole chain another looksee.

(I have searched and searched for a picture online but can't find it! But seriously, go to your local TJMaxx/Ross/Marshall's and look for it!)

- I got a turntable! Also known as a record player for the musically challenged (myself included). My dad's friend gave us his old turntable for free because it was just taking up space in his storage unit.  We finally got it all hooked up on Sunday and I've been playing old records nonstop. I'm in luuurrrve.

Disregard the hanging wires and mess.

- Made a chicken cobb salad on Thursday.

With herb dressing and sour dough croutons

- OK, bear with me, but we just started the Justified TV series, and don't all three of these men look super similar?

- This is my sister-in-law's cat, Phoebe, and she is precious.
Asking for more petttings

That's all for now. Hopefully I'll have time to post in the next couple of days!

Return!

I'm baaaaaack!!

I've been checked out for quite a while now, because basically, I wanted to. I haven't been overly busy, just took some time to relax.

I also went to the beach for a week! It was lovely and awesome and beautiful weather and I had such a great time with Jesse and his family. We had a tiny bit of car trouble, but overall, everything was relaxing and fun!

In other news, I started a new job today!

My last job was not a good fit for me anymore and I needed to move on.  So I did! I am now an office manager for a real estate company and I'm pretty excited about it.  It will definitely take some getting used to, all the responsibilities and things to learn, but I'm excited to be expanding and stretching.

OK - now for a photo dump. See ya later toots!

Our ride down!
It was sunny and 80 every day!

We took a day to visit my Grandma who lives 2 hours away.
One of the best pictures of the whole week.
The brothers in front of the family house.
Goodbye beautiful Outer Banks!

Motivation

Or really, lack thereof.

There is something about this time of year, with this 80 degree weather, with the kids finishing up school, and the sun setting around 8:30 at night.

All of this, plus much more, makes me want to kick back with a glass of cold sangria and just hang.

I want to wake up slow, enjoying the daylight as it streams in through my blinds, go for a walk and hear the birds and see the lush green that is happening everywhere.

I want to eat all the cold, juicy fruits and vegetables I can get my hands on.

I want to lie in the sun and let it warm my skin.

Unfortunately, all of this doesn't leave a lot of time for work. House work, actual work. Whatever that needs to be done, I don't actually want to do.

Not that I really ever want to do it, but this time of year makes me REALLY not want to do it.

There are some changes coming in the next few weeks with my current job, and that coupled with the fact that in less than two weeks we will be at the beach, means I have no motivation to do anything but enjoy life and focus on lounging on the beach and eating all the buffalo chicken dip my sister-in-law can make.

IN OTHER NEWS, I am down 13 pounds from where I started on March 17.  Definitely not where I want to end up officially, but still. This is the skinniest I have been in years.

Of course my Timehop app decided to show me in a prom dress from 8 years ago today and it has plunged me into a deep depression. I can never again be the giddy 18 year old who can eat whatever she wants and still look bangin' in a prom dress.

But never fear, because my 26 year old self can drink sangria and stay up as late as she wants to, darn it.

Man, this post was all over the place. Talk about a mind that is far, far away from this computer, and sitting on the beach listening to the waves.

One Short Day!

Instead of doing a whole recap of the weekend, here are some highlights!

- Friday night's dinner with friends had baked tacos! I had never had tacos like this, but basically she filled up the taco shells with the meat and cheese, then baked them in the oven. Everything held together really nicely and the shell was crisp on the top and yet soft on the bottom. The perfect mixture.  I'll definitely be trying this trick next time I want tacos!

- This guy turned one and he was pretty ding dang cute about it!

- A pretty successful interview with a company that sounds great to work for! Now is the time to pray and wait!

- WICKED. If you have seen the show, no explanation needed. If you haven't seen the show, go see it. I shouldn't have to explain myself where Wicked is concerned.

To add to my collection!
The sets are incredible!
- Jesse ordered a whole year of MLB TV.  We have been going back and forth between getting better cable, or ordering this. I was against it. I want good cable! I want HGTV  and TBS and Bravo! But he ordered it last night on a whim and I gotta say, I am loving it! No more missing baseball games because we are so cheap!

So that was sort of my weekend in a nutshell.  We spent time with family and friends. We hung out. I made pulled pork in the crock pot. An all around good old fashioned weekend.

Recap//Weekending

We spent a lot of time with family and friends this weekend, which was very nice. Saturday morning Jesse and I woke up early and went to breakfast at Family Meal.
Blueberry pancakes, breakfast sandwich, pimento hoe cakes, and coffee. (Grits not pictured, but delicious all the same)
They have so much to look at, it could take you two hours at least.

We went shopping at a vintage barn sale that's held once a month. We didn't find much, everything has gotten kind of expensive. It was such a beautiful day though, I didn't really mind walking away with nothing.

That night we had everyone over for our Italian potluck night. My cannolis and tiramisu turned out delicious! I was very proud.

My brother-in-laws and their families stayed until pretty late, I was so happy to fall into bed that night.

The next morning we went to church, had lunch with my parents, then went to a mall with a Bass Pro shop because that is what my niece wanted to do for her 5th birthday. She loved looking at the big boats, the fish tanks, and the 4-wheelers.
Checking out boats we could never afford.

We had dinner and cake for her at my brother-in-law's apartment a couple minutes away and left around 8pm.  I was exhausted, let me tell you. All in all, a pretty nice little weekend.
My beautiful niece who is almost my height now.

Now I'm just counting down the minutes to the next one.

Weekending//Manic Mondays

Good morning!

It is an absolutely beautiful morning where I live. I haven't been able to fully enjoy it until right this second though because I woke up extremely late, threw my hair in a pony tail, raced out the door only to sit in traffic for 20 minutes, arrive at work 15 minutes late and have my first sip of coffee at 10:15 AM. It's been a quintessential manic Monday.

Good news though! I have off tomorrow to explore DC with Jesse, my brother and his fiance. We're going to look at the cherry blossoms and have a lovely lunch. I'm very excited!

Our weekend was quiet in some respects and loud in others.

Friday night we went for our usual walk and had a healthy dinner of salad with grilled chicken and mushrooms. Then we wrecked it all for Bruster's ice cream. Have you ever been there? Everything is so delicious. I opted not to get the waffle cone as I didn't want to eat too much, but I won't lie. I got two scoops. One of chocolate chip cookie dough and one of honey graham. They are so yummy. Plus we always have coupons and they honor military discounts. It was a nice night to sit on the bed of Jesse's truck and eat our ice cream and swing our feet. Then we went home and watched Back to the Future part 1. A classic.

Saturday morning we woke up a little late. 9:15 is late for an old woman like me. We did some chores around the house and I tackled my closet. It was getting a tad out of control. I will be giving away a ton of old sweaters/shirts I never wear anymore and at least 3 pairs of pants that either don't fit, or I just don't wear. I also got rid of about 10 pairs of shoes. I bought some wedges about 4 years ago and I wore the heck out of them. They have holes where my pinky toes poke through. So those got the boot. As did a pair of boots I think I've worn 5 times in the 5 years I've had them. It's sad when I think about the money I spent on clothes that weren't perfect for me, but that I had to have when I was young. I was going through it and Jesse kept walking into the room and saying, "this is a mess!" at all the clothes I had lying everywhere. And I kept thinking, oh my gosh. Do I seriously have this many clothes?! So many clothes. So many you guys. I've forbid myself from buying anything else without making use of the clothes I already own.
I had so many clothes crammed in to this small space. And the top shelf? Don't even get me started.
See those yellow bins? FULL OF SHOES.

And then what did I do this morning? I looked at Loft.com and put things in my cart before I actually realized what the hell I was doing.  Don't worry, nothing was purchased. Yet.

Saturday afternoon we helped some friends of ours move into their first apartment. Then we went out for dinner and drinks just us and ran into Jesse's brother and his wife who invited us back to their house for wine (for me) and whiskey (for Jesse). We ended up staying until 2:30 and had a dance party. I haven't seen 3 AM in years.

Sunday was pretty chill. We slept until 10ish and Jesse went over to his Dad's to work on his truck while I stayed back and cleaned the house. I toured Jesse's other brother's new house (less than a quarter mile from ours!) and we went to Moe's for dinner.

Beautiful weather, beautiful weekend. All in all, this was the weekend I needed to recharge. I feel like we've been going, going, going for so long. I needed a weekend to just cool down. I think maybe next weekend, I'll focus on sleep?

Four.

Tuesdays suck. So here's a rando-post!

I was pretty adorbs.

four of my nicknames
1. Jessa - My mom called me this when I was a baby.
2. Jessie - I hate this name for myself. I've never wanted it and immediately correct people when they say it. Also, it's my husband's name and please don't confuse us anymore. (He spells it Jesse)
3. Babe - Jesse and I have a habit of calling each other tons of nicknames.  The one most frequently used is babe.
4. Angel - my dad calls me this.

four jobs i've had
1. I worked for Best Buy when I was in high school.  My first and probably last time working in retail.
2. During college I worked for a real estate magazine.  I worked part time in this beautiful office with hardwood floors and lots of natural light. I loved it. Sadly, they went out of business, but I truly enjoyed working there.
3. I worked for a long time for a medical office. I loved this job. I loved the patients, the medical stuff, my coworkers. I left to go back to school.
4. I babysat a lot in high school and college. The sweetest gig I had was for twin babies. Their parents were fairly young and would put them to bed right before I got over there around 8pm or so. They NEVER cried while I was there, so I basically watched TV for 5 hours and got paid big money for it. It was AWESOME.

I could watch this movie over and over and over again.
four movies i've watched more than once
1. When Harry Met Sally - I watch this movie at least 3 times a year. I never get sick of it and can repeat almost every line.
2. It's A Wonderful Life - I watch this every Christmas with my dad. It is so perfect and Jimmy Stewart praying at the end just slays me.
3. Liar Liar - Jesse and I love this movie and watch it every time it's on TV. We can quote the crap out of this movie.
4. Field of Dreams - I try to watch this before every baseball season. It really gets me in the spirit.

four things in my purse
1. My Spartina wallet. If you've never heard of them, check them out! They're great quality and come in tons of colors and patterns!
2. Rosebud Strawberry lip balm. The best.
3. My iPhone 5.
4. Pepper spray. Jesse got this for me for Christmas. Interestingly, it is not the strangest gift he has ever given me.

four places i've lived
1. Frederick, MD
2. Walkersville, MD
3. Towson, MD
4. Olney, MD

Boston's gorgeous skyline. We went there in July 2013 and it was beautiful weather!

four places i've visited
1. Boston, MA - I've been to Boston twice in my life and will be going back this summer!
2. Savannah, GA - I went here with my girl scout troop when I was 13.  Such a cool city.
3. Los Angeles, CA - Visited CA when my girlfriend was living out there and it was quite the experience.
4. Cancun, Mexico - Our honeymoon!

four places on my travel bucket list
1. Charleston, SC - I have heard this city is gorgeous and I love the south.
2. Greece - Specifically Santorini. The pictures look so beautiful.
3. Grand Canyon - I can just picture myself standing at the top and feeling peaceful.
4. Key West, FL - I think this one, like Charleston, could be easily accomplished. I just want to bask in the sunshine and the warm sand and beautiful, clear waters.

four things i don't eat
1. Asparagus - I don't know, I just never cared for this vegetable. Plus it makes your pee smell! #ew
2. Twinkies - Never had one, never will.
3. Meatloaf - This always smells delicious to me, but then I see it and I think, no thanks.
4. Oysters - Apparently they're just supposed to "slide down your gullet". What. No.

Always and forever, OK?
four tv shows i watch
1. Friends - My all time, absolute, favorite TV show ever. Of all time. Absolutely. I can quote every single line, I think it's hilarious, I adore all the characters and all the episodes.
2. Sex and the City - I catch this every now and then on E! and I will watch an episode. I've seen every episode multiple times. There are definitely story lines I hate (um, Alexsandr Petrovsky anyone?) but the friendship between the 4 girls always rings true to me.
3. Parks & Recreation - We are at the end of season 6 right now on Netflix and I am sad it's ending. Andy Dwyer forever.
4. Will & Grace - I have always loved the dynamic of the characters on this show. I think Will & Grace's friendship, especially at the beginning, and their quick wit, is what keeps me coming back.

The day we left the beach last year. A sad, sad day indeed.

four things i'm looking forward to
1. The beach! We are going in May and it cannot come fast enough.
2. My brother's wedding. It's going to be a family filled, food filled extravaganza and I want to eat and dance my heart out.
3. Baseball season. Yesterday was opening day for the Orioles and the Red Sox.  I can't wait to see a couple games this year.  Maybe I can even convince Jesse to up our cable package so I can watch them on TV!
4. Warm weather. Like warm even when you walk out your door at 7:30 in the morning. I want to not be cold for a long time.

K! Back to pretending I care that I have to work today!

Being an Adult

So there is this scene in the TV show Will & Grace where Jack hires his old babysitter to basically 'babysit' him again. And Will gets angry and says you can't do that you're an adult! So Jack responds, "I don't want to be an adult anymore! It's very hard!"

I feel like that ALL THE TIME. Let's review.

Adult Thing #1: Staying up as late as you want!
Reality: Not really. You have to get up for work tomorrow remember? And if you don't want to fall asleep at your desk, post, seat, station, or what have you, you might as well turn in around 9:30pm.  No amount of Netflix binging will feel better than getting a good nights sleep.

Adult Thing #2: Making your own money, and spending it the way you want!
Reality: Again, not really. Yes, you make your own money. Most adults I know make pretty good money. But sadly, that money is gone the second it hits your bank account.  Gone to the mean bills known as rent/mortgage, cable, electric, gas, car payment, phone bill, and student loans. Whatever you have left over can probably get you a few things you want. But not everything. Definitely, not everything.

Adult Thing #3: You want that extra cookie? You go Glenn Coco!
Reality: Oh you can have that cookie. You can have the whole damn sleeve of Thin Mints for all the world cares. You're an adult! There is no one around to tell you otherwise! But your thighs? They care. And they will show you how much you care the next morning.

Adult Thing #4: Drinking alcohol!
Reality: Yes, alcohol can be very good.  It can make a good party, a great one. It can leave lasting memories (if you can remember them). But alcohol can be bad, very bad. It can leave you throwing up, lying on the cold bathroom floor and wishing you did NOT have that third margarita on top of all the chips and salsa. See #3. And after age 25, don't think you can handle it as well as you did when you turned 21. Also, basically after one drink at dinner, I'm falling asleep on the couch. Here we are again at #1.

Alright so it isn't all bad. There are some definite perks. I love owning my own home. I love the sense of pride I get when I look at my house and realize how long it took Jesse and me to get there. I love that we are married. I love that I know I get to be with him forever. Making my own money is pretty cool.  And I'm learning every day how to budget myself better.

But here's the thing. I don't feel like an adult. I don't think anyone does. I don't think being an adult is a feeling as much as responsibilities. I still feel like a kid. Maybe a teenager some days. Hopefully, that never goes away. Even when I'm 80.

Lately

I haven't written lately, mainly because I'm busy. There have been some changes at work, and I hate change. So I'm dealing with that.
But today is a new day. Plus it's Friday.

{Making}  Plans. I'm making plans for this weekend, the Superbowl (of which I don't care one bit, except that it's an excuse to eat food), our DCL trip in February, and maybe a trip to Florida? I hope so.
{Cooking} Dinners! Monday - steaks with cheesy grits, Tuesday - bacon wrapped shrimp with a Caesar salad, Wednesday - honey glazed chicken legs with sweet potato fries and broccoli, Thursday - spinach salad with chicken sausage, apples, blue cheese, and walnuts. And tonight's main course I haven't figured out yet...but something with ground beef because that is what is currently defrosting in my microwave.
{Wanting} to get off work at 4pm, go home, and relax alllll night.
{Looking} at Deep Creek Lake activities. I think we will get down there early on Friday afternoon and have lunch and hit up some of my favorite spots over the weekend.

{Playing} Trivia Crack and Words with Friends.
{Watching} lots of things - Friends, Parks & Rec, King of Queens, Big Love, House Hunters. I fluctuate between all of them equally.
{Wishing} it were either snowing or 75 degrees out. I don't know what it is, but lately I've been craving sweet summer nights and dresses. I just don't want to give up on winter yet.
{Waiting} for lunch. My coworker and I decided to order out today, which happens once in a blue moon. Old Bay fries, mmmmm.
{Liking} that I'm wise enough now to truly appreciate God's work in my life.
{Wondering} if I will get pregnant before I turn 27.
{Loving} "Ghost" by Ella Henderson.
{Hoping} I get pregnant. Soon.
{Needing} something to take my mind off the fact that I have 5 more hours of work separating me from total freedom for 2 days.
{Wearing} my coziest sweater. It's a cold one out there today.
{Noticing} I hate the way my living room is arranged. I want to try something new.
{Thinking} about car insurance. Welcome to my life.
{Praying} that I can learn to serve God. I find myself praying for a lot of self-service lately. I hope to change that.

New Year, New Me?

Well, it's been a month. Since I last blogged. In case you hadn't noticed?

December was busy.  Busy at work, busy at home. Busy decorating, and buying, and wrapping, and working, and being with family, and baking cookies, and just living.

And I won't lie, I wasn't motivated.  My life isn't anything special.  I go to work, I come home. I spend time with my friends and family. I eat food and I sleep.  Gosh, typing it just bored the crap out of me.

Still not pregnant. Maybe we're trying? I don't know. We're of course doing the deed, but in my mind, it isn't trying. I think it is in Jesse's, as he keeps bugging me when I'm ovulating, but I simply don't feel like trying anymore.  I'm tired.  Of tracking things and checking the mucus (overshare...) and taking ovulation tests, and taking my temperature.  I'm just tired.  So I don't do it anymore.  We do things when we want to, and I'm not going to worry about it.  I'm a tad indifferent about the whole thing, but that's OK.  It's January and I need to focus on other things.

Like the fact that I went to the doctors on Friday and was 6 pounds over what I already don't want to be. I need to seriously incorporate the gym into my daily routine.  But how on Earth do people get up, go to work, go to the gym, go home and cook dinner and then find energy to do all the other "living" things?  Like spend time with your husband and kitty cats?  Not sure. I don't want to kill myself trying to live longer.  Seems a tad counterproductive.

Or the fact that I haven't cooked dinner in like a month!  OK, not true, I cooked Christmas Eve dinner, but not since then! Isn't that sick? Ugh, we have been eating out way too much, so I gained 6 pounds, and now I need to lose weight. Vicious cycle.

ALSO, I need to attend church more often.  The last 2 Sundays, I've either been feeling awful, or just really tired, and wholly unmotivated.  So we don't go, and then I immediately regret my decision.

Thankfully, we have started attending a bible study with 2 other couples that attend church. I've never read much of the bible, and this is helping. We are on Romans right now, and I'm learning. Slowly, but I'm learning. Sometimes I have to reread what we read in the study because I don't understand the first time. But everyone does that right?

Ok, wrapping this up. Exercise more, eat a lot less ice cream, and read the bible.  Lofty, Jess.

Don't worry, I will have abandoned these by February 1.

OH! And now a photo dump.

Christmas decorating skillz.
More skillz.
Babies helping mama wrap.
The Christmas collar with bells on it. He didn't mind it after awhile.
My parents' tree.
Favorite show coming to Netflix Jan. 1? Don't mind if I do.
First smoothie in the Nutribullet. Delish.
Sweet Millie.

About Time

Yesterday was the IUI procedure.  I was pretty nervous leading up to it, I could barely concentrate at work.

I left my office at 12:32, arrived at the office at 12:47, laid down on the table at 1:02 and the procedure was over at 1:03.  I felt basically nothing, no pain, which was really nice.  They had me lay down on the table for an additional 5 minutes just to make sure nothing leaked out.

I probably could have gone back to work, but I went home and laid in bed for the next 4 hours! Not my finest hour, but I can't resist a good relaxing session, and I wanted to make sure I was calm and relaxed for a possible conception!

Jesse is so faithful, he is sure it's going to work.  I want it to work so badly, but I also don't want to get my hopes up, so I'm basically just going to stay positive and faithful and most of all CALM.  I'm not going to freak out with the two week wait.  I'm going to wait until the 11th to officially test because that is the projected day of the start of my next cycle.

In the meantime, we watched a movie last night called "About Time".  It's a romantic comedy (but not like you think) starring Rachel McAdams and another British man I don't know.

Every time I had seen it at RedBox, I thought, ugh, this is probably a crappy Nicholas Sparks movie, I don't even want to try it. But we caught it on HBO and I'm glad we did.  The message of the movie, the acting, the dialogue, was all very good.  Afterwards I cried.  For nothing in particular really, just that the message was that good and it is something that sort of took Jesse and I back and made us see the perspective of our lives.

So 8.5/10 in my book.

The Weekenders

This weekend was truly busy. Busy and hot.  The temperature on Sunday rose to at least 80. Boo to summer rearing its ugly head again.

Friday night we did basically nothing. I was battling a cold all week and it finally took me down for the count on Friday morning.  I snuggled with kitties all day and ate leftover homemade chicken noodle soup (made by Jesse!).

Saturday we went yardsaling (not a word, don't judge) and Jesse found a bike.  He has been wanting one for awhile and at $60 for a new-ish bike in great condition, we knew we had to scoop it up.

I also found this truly adorable trivet.

Saturday afternoon we went to Jesse's grandfather's 90th birthday party.

Jesse has a large Italian family and all but 2 cousins were there.  I am very blessed to be a part of this extremely loving and generous family. I don't have a large family, and the family I have is spread across the East Coast.  It doesn't make for huge holiday get-togethers, but it does allow me to appreciate family even more.
Sorry for the blurry picture! Stupid iPhone.

So basically we ate delish food, celebrated a wonderful man, and hung out with some cool kids.

Sunday we went to the Maryland wine festival.  It took a bit of convincing on my part to get Jesse to go, because at $30 bucks a pop, it's an expensive way to spend a Sunday afternoon.  But we went and met up with my parents and some family friends.  I found pretty good wines.  I didn't purchase anything because I am sure I can find the wines in my town for possibly cheaper.  I'm really enjoying drinking Maryland wines.  I like knowing that my money goes back to my state, plus it just makes me feel more of that MD pride.

Again - stupid iPhone.

I had the windows open all last week, but finally closed them and turned the air on last night. It was such a bummer. But they were thrown open again this morning before I left for work, so I suppose I can't complain too much.

This boy.

P.S. - I'm done taking my medication for last week to increase my ovulation.  The appointment is this Wednesday and the reality is finally setting in that possibly, maybe, hopefully, don't count on it, don't get your hopes up, but it truly could be the month where we conceive.

Happy Anni-Vada-Versary!

Yesterday was our 2 year wedding anniversary.  Jesse surprised me with tickets to see Dirty Dancing at the National Theater in DC.

Two things about me -
1. I love love love musicals.
2. I love love love Dirty Dancing.

So when he told me last weekend this is what we would be doing for our anniversary, I was super excited!

First we decided to go down and have dinner at the Occidental Grill in the Willard Hotel.  It was a beautiful evening and we splurged a tad on dinner, but everything was delicious!

I ordered the rack of lamb and Jesse had prosciutto wrapped monk fish.  We also got the lobster mashed potatoes to split.  Yummmm.

Because we had tickets to the theater, they brought us free drinks!  I had the "Thyme of Your Life" cocktail and Jesse had a glass of prosecco. Both were delicious, but I enjoyed mine a little better.   I am a fan of wine, but not super dry wines, and this prosecco was just that.  Jesse enjoys a good dry wine though, so it was perfect for him!

After dinner we wandered around the hotel a bit, the decor was gorgeous and old and lavish.  I thought briefly about renting a hotel for our night out, but we have had a couple of large expenses lately so we really couldn't afford it. Next anniversary though, we are definitely staying in a very nice hotel!

Then we walked to the theatre which was a block from the restaurant.  I thought the musical was very good.  There were a couple parts that weren't in the movie, and everyone was a fantastic dancer.  It was also just nice to see live theatre again, I haven't seen a musical in a couple of years and this has really sparked my interest again.

After the show, we went home, and I didn't have to go into work until late this morning.  This was definitely different than last year's anniversary, we went apple picking at an apple orchard festival and went to the Antrim 1844 for dinner (which is where we got married).  Both occasions were great, and I'm looking forward to the next anniversary!

Also - a note about Jesse - he's the greatest.
